Prerequisite: HLTH 121 or department approval .
This course is intended to introduce the student to the concepts of coding medical conditions and procedures. Through guided instruction and practical experience students will become familiar with an entry-level proficiency in the techniques of coding using the ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Clinical Modification) and ICD-10-PCS (International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Procedure Coding System). Three lecture hours per week or equivalent.
