* Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent. This is a beginning course in American Sign Language. It introduces basic expressive and receptive ASL vocabulary and grammar, fingerspelling, linguistic principles, and basic conversation skills. Norms of American Deaf culture, related laws, and agencies that serve this community are presented. Three lecture hours and two laboratory hours per week or equivalent.
