*Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent, and completion of MATH 098 with a grade of "C" or approved math placement scores, or department approval. This course is a study of the fundamental principles governing the behavior of matter. Topics include atomic structure, stoichiometry, chemical bonding, equilibrium and solutions. Recommended for students enrolled in four-year programs in such fields as nursing (BSN) and allied health professions, agriculture, family and consumer science, computer science, prerequisite for general chemistry sequence (CHEM 130 / CHEM 132), or as a general education course. The important mathematical skills involved in basic chemistry are developed, but overall there is less mathematical emphasis than in CHEM 130. Three lecture hours and three laboratory hours per week (P1 902L)
